The Task
Create a higher density cost effective rental townhome product to street face Fanshawe Park Road in London with traditional townhomes behind.
Solution
With the limited site area we designed 40 back to back stacked 4 storey wood townhome units in 2 buildings. The lower units make up a lower and main level with a private lower patio area. The upper units are 3 storeys stacked on top with private terraces on the uppermost floor. The exterior consisted of a large stone veneer base with Hardie panels above. Colours were neutral with accent black window and door frames as well as railings.
The Result
This project was the talk of the town and is still talked about. We received 2 prestigious awards. The 2013 Ontario Woodworks award for Multi Unit Wood Design project of the year and 2013 London Urban Design Award in the midrise category.
